As a birth doula, Ann accompanies women in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience.  She will draw on her professional DONA training, knowledge and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort and, as needed, communication with the staff to make sure you have the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise in labor.  Ann can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, soothing touch, positioning and other techniques for comfort.  After delivery, Ann can help with initial breastfeeding, if necessary.  All birth clients receive a prenatal visit, continual care throughout labor and birth and typically one to two hours after delivery until you are comfortable.

As a postpartum doula, Ann is there to nurture, educate and serve the developing needs of new families.  She is there to care for the mother and family in the home during the first three months following birth.  She provides non-medical support and companionship.  She assists with self-care recovery measures, provides information on mother and baby care, breastfeeding support,  aids the family with adjusting to new roles and, offers household organizational support: including preparing occasional light meals, grocery shopping, laundry, tidying and dish-washing.   Ann will offer evidence based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from childbirth and other issues related to the postpartum period and can  make referrals if necessary. Ann is a DONA trained postpartum doula.

All postpartum clients receive a prenatal visit.  Services typically follow a schedule of 3 visits during weeks 1 & 2, 2 visits in weeks 3 & 4, and 1 visit during weeks 5 & 6 postpartum, with each visit lasting 4 hours.
